The BC Contraceptive Management Community of Practice (BC CM CoP) is a leadership group of Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners from across British Columbia (BC) who are interested, practicing and or involved in the management of Nurses in the field of contraceptive management. Many of the members are CRNBC certified in Reproductive Health – Contraceptive Management (CM).
Contraceptive Management includes but is not limited to the practice of CM certified Nursing practice as well as other topics such as emergency contraception, other forms of contraception, and reproductive health.
The BC CM CoP does not address issues specific to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) although updates are provided to this group as issues arise, and the Committee liaises with the Provincial STI Nurses Meeting.
This CoP is led and steered by a volunteer, self-directed leadership committee whose mandate is to:
- Promote continuous improvement in the quality of nursing practice specific to CM, based on best evidence and best practice to the population of BC.
- Incorporate concepts of health promotion, community development, determinants of health, and population health in the promotion of continuous improvement in the nursing practice of CM.
